Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a repetitive light touch massage technique developed in the 1930`s by Dr. Emil Vodder to combat the effects of lymphedema. Our bodies lymphatic system is designed to maintain fluid balance, remove wastes and transport immune cells. When damage to the lymph nodes occurs from cancer treatments, surgery, chronic illness or traumatic injury, it can cause debilitating swelling leading to infections, ulcers and functional changes. MLD applies a gentle, non-invasive skin stretch which encourages draining of the tissues. Regular treatment combined with compression garments can reduce harmful side effects. Currently there are no successful drugs or surgeries to repair or replace lymph nodes.
MLD can help the following conditions:
- post cancer treatments
- pre/post operative (increases healing rate)
- traumatic injury
- OA/RA/scleroderma/Raynaud`s
- Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
- ulcers/chronic venous insufficiency
- Lyme Disease (great for the overtaxed immune system)
- Primary Lymphedema
- Lipedema
- fatigue/stress syndromes
Sorry MLD is not for you if you have the following conditions: congestive heart failure/ kidney failure, untreated thrombus, untreated cancer, acute inflammation/infection

It can help treat: digestive disorders, stress, insomnia, migraines, fibromyalgia, ms, cancer recovery.
